Medochemie wins Golden Cedar, highest honour at Cyprus Environmental Awards 2025

Medochemie was honoured with the Golden Cedar, the top distinction at the eighth Cyprus Environmental Awards 2025, presented by President Nikos Christodoulides. The award recognized the pharmaceutical company for achieving the highest overall score among all nominees and categories. Additionally, Medochemie secured a Gold Environmental Medal in the Primary Sector, Manufacturing and Industry category.

The accolade acknowledges Medochemie’s long-term commitment to environmental sustainability, including investments in energy efficiency, responsible natural resource use, and waste management. Since October 1, 2025, the company’s factories in Cyprus have sourced all electricity from renewable energy, significantly reducing the carbon footprint of its manufacturing operations. Medochemie also participates in the European LIFE Pharma Detox project, contributing to innovative wastewater treatment technologies to manage pharmaceutical residues.

Chairman Christakis Sergides emphasized the award’s significance, especially as the company celebrates 50 years since its foundation. Medochemie employs 2,000 people worldwide, operates 15 manufacturing facilities across three countries, and maintains a presence in 122 sales markets, underlining its stature as Cyprus’ largest pharmaceutical company with an ongoing dedication to environmental performance improvement.
