Cyprus Achieves 81.3% Employment Rate in 2025, Exceeding EU 2030 Target

Cyprus recorded one of the highest employment rates in the EU for people aged 20 to 64 in 2025, reaching 81.3%, surpassing both the EU average of 76.1% and the European Pillar of Social Rights Action Plan target of 78% for 2030. This achievement places Cyprus among the few EU regions that have already met or exceeded the employment goals aimed for 2030.

According to Eurostat, the overall EU employment rate for this age group rose to 76.1% in 2025, marking the highest level since records began in 2009. Nearly half of the EU's NUTS 2 regions reached or surpassed the 78% target, with Cyprus counted as a single region due to its size. Other countries such as the Czech Republic, Germany, Ireland, and Sweden also saw widespread regional success in meeting the employment benchmarks.

Despite Cyprus’ strong performance, several regions in other member states recorded even higher employment rates, with some exceeding 85%. The data highlights the positive trend across the EU towards meeting 2030 employment objectives and reflects regional disparities in labour market participation.
