Cyprus Industrial Turnover Index Up 5% in July 2026 Despite Export Decline

Cyprus’ Industrial Turnover Index rose by 5% in July 2026, reaching 168.8 units, driven mainly by stronger local market sales that outweighed a significant 8.6% drop in exports for the month. For the first seven months, the index showed a 3.9% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

Manufacturing, the largest sector, gained 4.8% annually in July, with notable growth in electronic and optical products, which surged 85.3%. Furniture manufacturing and machinery repair also posted strong increases. However, declines were seen in machinery and transport equipment (down 13.2%) and refined petroleum and chemical products.

Outside manufacturing, water supply and materials recovery recorded impressive gains of 16% and 20.3%, respectively. The local market index increased by 7.4% in July, contrasting with the export market's decline. These figures, based on 2021 as the base year, reflect a mixed but overall positive industrial performance for Cyprus in 2026.
