Maccabi Tel Aviv may host EuroLeague home games in Limassol pending inspection

Maccabi Tel Aviv is set to potentially play its EuroLeague home fixtures at the Spyros Kyprianou arena in Limassol, following an important inspection scheduled for Tuesday. EuroLeague officials, team representatives, and Cyprus Police will evaluate the venue's readiness, focusing on enhanced security measures, crowd segregation, and overall operational standards after renovations completed last year.

The proposed move, pending approval expected soon, would start with games scheduled from 22 October and could extend into April. This relocation presents a security challenge due to Maccabi’s fixtures against three Turkish teams—Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş, and Anadolu Efes. Cyprus Police have already devised a preliminary security plan to manage team arrivals and match-day operations in coordination with EuroLeague management and the Israeli club.

This development follows a formal request from Maccabi Tel Aviv to Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides, highlighting ongoing collaboration between the club and Cypriot authorities to ensure safe and successful EuroLeague matches on the island.
