Cyprus joins 55 nations in reaffirming UN sanctions on Iran following snapback process

Cyprus is among 56 countries that signed a joint statement reaffirming their commitment to enforcing United Nations sanctions on Iran. The statement marks the reinstatement of multiple UN Security Council resolutions, including 1696 (2006) through 1929 (2010), following the completion of the snapback process in response to Iran's failure to meet its nuclear obligations under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

The signatories committed to preventing the supply and transfer of items that could contribute to Iran's nuclear proliferation or missile development, including arms and related materials. They also pledged to take effective measures to stop the direct or indirect sale of weapons of mass destruction and related delivery systems to or from Iran.

The countries emphasized their ongoing cooperation to counter Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile programs and urged Tehran to return to compliance with its non-proliferation commitments, cooperate fully with the International Atomic Energy Agency, and address international concerns.
