President announces monthly allowance for vulnerable breast cancer patients in Cyprus
President Nikos Christodoulides announced the provision of a monthly allowance for vulnerable breast cancer patients in Cyprus, covering the duration of their treatment and up to 12 months post-treatment. Additionally, free transportation will be offered to patients residing in remote areas of the Nicosia district to reach oncology centers.
Speaking at the Walk with the Pink Figures event, the President emphasized that these measures respond to recommendations by Europa Donna Cyprus and reflect the state's commitment to supporting patients regardless of their location or financial status. He also highlighted the importance of a holistic approach to cancer care, including diagnosis, timely treatment, psychological support, rehabilitation, and reintegration into daily life and work.
The President referred to the establishment of the National Cancer Institute and its first Board of Directors as key to implementing comprehensive cancer policies encompassing prevention, early diagnosis, treatment, research, rehabilitation, and post-treatment follow-up. He praised Europa Donna Cyprus and particularly honored Stella Kyriakides for her longstanding advocacy for cancer patients.
