European Commission Releases €120 Million to Cyprus Under Recovery and Resilience Facility

The European Commission has disbursed nearly €120 million to Cyprus following the satisfactory completion of key reforms and investment targets under the Recovery and Resilience Facility. This payment marks the country's sixth funding request approval, bringing Cyprus closer to receiving 67% of its total €1.02 billion grant allocation.

The latest funds support various initiatives including the introduction of a new school evaluation system, development of a cross-border patient health data exchange, and expansion of electronic building permit services. Additionally, investments have been made in renewable energy testing infrastructure and smart grids at the University of Cyprus, as well as flexible working arrangements in the public sector.

This disbursement is part of a broader €9.8 billion release to five EU member states, including Poland, Sweden, Belgium, and Estonia. Payments under the Recovery and Resilience Facility are performance-based, with funds only released after the completion of agreed milestones and reforms, ensuring that the support directly corresponds to progress in national recovery plans.
