DCO Secretary-General Deemah AlYahya appointed to UN panel on freedom of transit for landlocked countries

Deemah AlYahya, Secretary-General of the Digital Cooperation Organisation (DCO), has been appointed by UN Secretary-General António Guterres to the High-Level Panel on Freedom of Transit for Landlocked Developing Countries. She is the only representative from Saudi Arabia and the Arab region on the panel, which aims to address barriers to international trade and improve market access for the world's 32 landlocked developing countries.

AlYahya brings expertise in digital economy, international cooperation, and multilateral diplomacy to the panel. Her appointment aligns with growing global emphasis on digital tools and customs technologies that facilitate trade and connectivity. The panel will develop practical recommendations to be presented at the 82nd UN General Assembly.

The DCO counts Cyprus among its members, tying AlYahya's role directly to Cyprus’ digital cooperation agenda. During a recent visit to Cyprus, she engaged with key stakeholders including Invest Cyprus and Cyta to discuss digital investment and infrastructure, reinforcing Cyprus’ position as a regional digital hub. Her work exemplifies advancing cross-border collaboration to enhance inclusive digital growth and international trade.
