Hunters Association Condemns Activist Harassment and Urges Respect for Legal Hunting Activities

The hunters association on Tuesday condemned what it described as harassment of legal hunters by activists, stating that such actions create unnecessary tensions and could jeopardize safety. They urged respect for legality, emphasizing that hunters have the right to carry out their activities without intimidation or obstruction.

The group reiterated its strong opposition to poaching and illegal hunting, supporting the enforcement of relevant legislation by authorities. Their statement followed comments from ELAM MP Linos Papayiannis, who said anti-hunting activists would not be invited to a forthcoming parliamentary environmental committee debate, citing their conduct as intolerable.

In response, the hunters association appealed to lawmakers to enhance environmental protection efforts and wildlife conservation, cautioning MPs against being misled by attempts to undermine collaboration between NGOs, law enforcement, and state bodies.
