Cyprus launches two new affordable housing schemes targeting young people and families
The Cyprus government has introduced two new housing schemes aimed at increasing affordable housing options for young people and families. Homeowners will now be allowed to add an extra floor or an additional dwelling on their property to accommodate children or grandchildren. Additionally, around 570 state-owned plots will be sold at just 25% of their market value to support affordable homeownership.
Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou emphasized that housing policy requires ongoing adaptation to meet evolving social needs. The new schemes form part of a broader strategy focused on expanding the housing stock and making homeownership genuinely accessible. The government also plans to utilize state land to benefit families struggling to afford homes while boosting local communities.
