Man arrested in Kouklia for illegal excavation near archaeological site

A 41-year-old man was arrested near an archaeological site in Kouklia, Paphos, after police found him in possession of a metal detector and a pickaxe. The arrest followed a tip-off received at around 6:30 pm about suspicious excavation activities in the area. Authorities responded promptly and located the man at the scene. He was detained on suspicion of illegal excavation aimed at uncovering antiquities, as well as possession of an unlicensed metal detector. The suspect is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday to face the charges.
