Cyprus Ministry of Health Reopens Investigation into Medical Centre Following New Complaint
Cyprus’s Ministry of Health has reopened its investigation into a medical centre after receiving a new complaint. The centre, previously investigated for illegally applying medical methods outside recognised indications, is now operating under a different name. Authorities had suspended its operations in 2022 and 2023 following earlier probes and police involvement.
The renewed investigation comes amid growing public concern in Cyprus and Greece regarding the illegal use of procedures like plasmapheresis for non-medical purposes. This debate intensified after the recent death of popular singer Giorgos Mazonakis, prompting calls for stricter oversight of such clinics.
The Ministry of Health reviewed complaints received last week and confirmed the pending case concerns this specific clinic. An official update on the status of the investigation is expected later today.
