Car theft and police chase in Chloraka ends with crash and arrest

A 28-year-old Cypriot man stole a car in Chloraka right in front of its owner before leading police on a dangerous chase that ended in a crash in Tremithousa. The 30-year-old owner had left his keys in the ignition while meeting a friend at a nearby car dealership when the thief took off in the vehicle.

The owner and dealership employee pursued the car, notifying the police as the suspect drove recklessly, overtaking on blind spots and running red lights. The chase ended when the stolen car collided with another vehicle.

Police, assisted by eyewitnesses, arrested the driver, who was already known for similar crimes. The case has been registered for a hearing at Paphos District Court.
