Man Pleads Guilty to Murder of Bangladeshi Student in Larnaca
A man accused of murdering 22-year-old Bangladeshi student Shahruar Ahmed Emon pleaded guilty to all charges during a court hearing in Larnaca on Monday. The defendant admitted to premeditated murder, abduction with intent to kill, and threatening to steal property. The offences took place in June in the Larnaca district.
The victim’s body was found in Kofinou with multiple stab wounds. Evidence revealed the defendant met Emon on a bus and later lured him with a false job offer before the attack. A knife was recovered at the scene, and personal belongings of the victim were found in the suspect’s possession.
The court has adjourned proceedings until October 6, continuing investigations into the case that shocked the local community.
