Seven arrests and over 300 fines issued during nationwide police operations in Cyprus
The police conducted extensive operations across Cyprus last night, focusing on organized patrols in key urban areas to prevent serious crimes and enhance public safety. These efforts resulted in the arrest of seven individuals for various offenses including car theft, illegal possession of property, overstaying in the Republic of Cyprus, speeding, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
During the operations, 460 drivers and 109 passengers were stopped and checked, alongside 46 inspections of commercial premises which led to four violations reported. Traffic enforcement produced 304 citations and 20 further traffic-related cases under investigation, with 97 penalties issued for speeding and six vehicles impounded.
Additionally, 75 breathalyzer tests revealed six positive results, and a preliminary drug test was also positive in one case. Police operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression will continue daily with increased patrol presence and targeted checks to maintain public order and citizen safety.
