Edwards, who previously played for England's youth teams up to under-20 level, has a mixed heritage and is eligible to play for Cyprus through his mother. Cyprus coach Apostolos Mantzios had indicated ongoing discussions with Edwards and confirmed the player's positive decision following the CFA announcement.
A product of Tottenham Hotspur's academy, Edwards has experience playing in England's Premier League and Portugal’s top-flight clubs, including Sporting Lisbon, where he featured in the Champions League.
