Myrsini Vardopoulou, a Greek graphic designer known for creating over 250 postage stamps for Hellenic Post, is a leading contender to design the upcoming series of euro banknotes. Her proposal, Design E, is one of ten shortlisted by the European Central Bank (ECB) and features themes celebrating European culture through intellectual contributions rather than famous personalities. Her €20 note design highlights Marie Curie, focusing on shared European values of knowledge and human achievement.
Eurozone citizens can vote for their preferred designs until September 21, with the ECB’s governing council expected to make the final decision by the end of the year. The winning designs will circulate across 21 EU countries, symbolizing unity amidst cultural diversity.
