21-year-old arrested in Paphos for possession of large quantity of untaxed tobacco products

A 21-year-old man was arrested in Paphos after police discovered a significant amount of suspected duty-free tobacco products in his home. The search, conducted at around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, uncovered 73 boxes of cigarettes, four boxes of heated tobacco devices, six kilograms of rolling tobacco, and eleven kilograms of hookah tobacco.

Authorities confirmed that the seized items lacked the required markings and safety features, suggesting the tobacco products were untaxed. The man was taken into custody on suspicion of possessing untaxed tobacco products, and the items were confiscated as evidence.

The investigation is currently ongoing and is being carried out collaboratively by Paphos police and customs officials in efforts to address illegal tobacco possession and taxation evasion.
