Cyprus innovators invited to join DCO's international AI challenge tackling water sector issues
The Digital Cooperation Organisation (DCO) has launched the Future Makers AI Challenge for Critical Sustainability, an international competition seeking AI-driven solutions to water-sector challenges across member states, including Cyprus. Cypriot startups, researchers, and technology teams are eligible to participate and showcase innovations that improve water system efficiency, reduce losses, and minimize environmental impacts.
The initiative, developed in partnership with Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture and other key scientific bodies, aims to foster technologies that decrease energy consumption, enhance recycling, and strengthen resilience in the water value chain. Successful teams will have opportunities to further develop their solutions and potentially pilot them under controlled conditions in Saudi Arabia, with prospects to scale these innovations across DCO member states.
For Cyprus, participation presents a critical opportunity to address local water management concerns through cutting-edge AI technologies. Applications for the challenge close on October 4, 2026, offering a platform for Cypriot innovators to collaborate internationally and bring practical advancements to an essential sector for island economies with limited water resources.
