Kyrenia municipality urges active role in decision-making and Cyprus solution talks
Kyrenia municipality emphasizes the need for an active presence in decision-making processes affecting the town and its original residents, according to Mayor Akis Violaris. During a recent meeting with Kyrenia Diko MP Adamos Aspris, the municipal council raised demands including having a municipal representative attend sessions of the House refugee committee.
The council also called for participation in official meetings related to the Cyprus problem, especially discussions on potential solutions and Kyrenia’s future role. To boost public awareness, the council is considering increasing its current annual budget of €13,400.
Additional proposals include establishing a community centre for elderly residents and restoring a building near the municipality’s temporary offices by the Ledra Palace crossing to create a cultural and knowledge centre. The council asserts Kyrenia cannot remain absent from crucial discussions concerning its future.
