25-year-old woman arrested in connection with Nicosia car arson case
Police have arrested a 25-year-old woman in connection with the arson of a vehicle in Nicosia last May. The arrest was made on Saturday around 10:30 am based on a court warrant issued after evidence was gathered during an investigation by the Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department. The fire, which occurred at approximately 2:40 am on 26 May 2026, destroyed a car parked outside its owner's home and was determined to be deliberately set.
This arrest follows the earlier detention of a 24-year-old man in June related to the same case. His case has since been filed for trial, with the court ordering his continued custody until the next hearing scheduled for 16 October 2026. Authorities continue to investigate the incident as both individuals await further legal proceedings.
