Man issued €13,500 fine for poaching 17 wild birds in Larnaca district
A 36-year-old man has been fined €13,500 in an out-of-court settlement related to a poaching case in Larnaca district. Authorities discovered 17 wild birds trapped in nets on the site he managed during an operation on 8 September 2026. Along with the birds, police found five trapping nets and a device used to imitate bird calls.
The wild birds were released back into their natural habitat following their rescue. The investigation was carried out by the Kofinou Regional Police Station in collaboration with the Game and Fauna Service. After completing their inquiry, officers issued the payment notice under laws protecting wild birds and game.
