Thousands Attend Let’s Go Troodos Festival at Presidential Residence Celebrating Mountain Communities
Thousands gathered at the Presidential Residence in Troodos last weekend for the third annual Let’s Go Troodos festival, an event promoting local crafts, foods, and traditions from mountain communities. The festival transformed the historic residence grounds into a vibrant marketplace featuring stalls with honey, halloumi, handmade soaps, textiles, and more. Ten percent of proceeds were donated to the Eleousa retirement home in Agros, underscoring the event's charitable focus.
Organized by First Lady Philippa Karsera Christodoulides in partnership with government ministries, the festival offered hands-on workshops in palouze making, weaving, pottery, and traditional music, engaging families and children in Cypriot heritage. Live folk performances enhanced the festive atmosphere while promoting connections between visitors and local artisans.
Authorities emphasized the festival’s role in supporting mountain villages by boosting small businesses and encouraging rural tourism. The event also opened the historic Troodos Presidential Residence to the public, linking Cyprus’ cultural heritage with contemporary crafts. Organizers plan to expand the festival next year, continuing to celebrate and support Cyprus’ mountain communities.
