Lidl Cyprus and Ministry of Education Relaunch Food Academy Program to Promote Healthy Eating Among Students
Lidl Cyprus, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Sport, and Youth, has relaunched the experiential “Food Academy for children at the Lidl Food Academy” program for the 2026-2027 academic year. The initiative, now in its ninth consecutive year, targets first-year high school students as part of the Health Education curriculum, focusing on developing healthy eating habits and environmental awareness.
Since its inception in 2018, the program has benefited over 6,800 children from 260 schools across Cyprus. Held at Lidl's Food Academy in Nicosia, the workshops provide hands-on learning experiences guided by qualified chefs and clinical dietitians, teaching students about balanced Mediterranean diets, cooking skills, food sustainability, and waste reduction.
Offered free of charge during school hours, this long-term collaboration aims to equip young people with practical knowledge to adopt healthier lifestyles and contribute to sustainable food practices. School coordination is managed by the Health Education Inspection of Secondary Education within the Ministry of Education.
