Pre-trial Proceedings in Thanasis Nicolaou Case to Conclude by Friday Amid Delays
The pre-trial phase of the private criminal case brought by the family of Thanasis Nicolaou is set to conclude by this Friday, following a court ruling. Despite previous court guidance to finalise objections, the defence introduced a new objection and a revised indictment, causing the court to adjourn proceedings until September 11. The judge expressed frustration over the protracted pre-trial phase and aims to complete this stage by the end of the month to schedule the hearing for early October.
The case revolves around the 2005 death of Thanasis Nicolaou, initially classified as suicide. Later investigations revealed strangulation, prompting renewed examination of the initial police and forensic inquiries. If no further motions are filed by Friday, charges will be formally pressed, allowing the case to proceed to trial.
