John Breslow presents credentials as new U.S. Ambassador to Cyprus

John Breslow formally presented his credentials as the U.S. Ambassador to Cyprus to President Nikos Christodoulides, marking the start of his diplomatic mission in Nicosia. Breslow arrived on September 5 to assume his role as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador. He was nominated by former President Donald J. Trump in October 2025 and confirmed by the U.S. Senate in August 2026.

Before his appointment, Breslow built a distinguished career in business and public service. He was owner and chairman of Linweld, Inc., a leading supplier of industrial and medical gases. Additionally, Breslow is a minority owner of the NHL's Vegas Golden Knights and England's Premier League club Bournemouth. He also served two terms as Nebraska State Auditor and ran for governor.

Known for his philanthropic work, Breslow has chaired the Madonna Foundation and contributed to various community boards. A Nebraska native, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Education and enjoys flying with over 48 years of pilot experience. Breslow has been married for over 50 years and has three daughters and five grandchildren.
