CySEC chairman George Karatzias and vice chairman Loukas Lagoudis formalize appointments with Finance Minister
George Karatzias and Loukas Lagoudis formally signed their contracts with Finance Minister Makis Keravnos, confirming their roles as chairman and vice chairman of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC). Their appointments, which took effect last week, mark a new leadership phase for the capital market regulator. Keravnos expressed full support from the Finance Ministry for their work.
CySEC operates as an independent authority responsible for supervising Cyprus’ capital market, protecting investors, and maintaining market confidence. Karatzias highlighted priorities including modern supervision, investor protection, transparency, innovation, and sustainable development of the market throughout his tenure.
Karatzias, who previously served as CySEC vice chairman and held executive roles at the Central Bank of Cyprus, pledged to strengthen the institution alongside Lagoudis, whose extensive background spans banking, blockchain advisory, and global financial management. Both bring significant experience aiming to enhance the credibility and effectiveness of the Cypriot capital market.
