Customs seize large quantities of duty free cigarettes from two Israeli women at Paphos airport

Customs agents at Paphos airport stopped two Israeli women for luggage inspection on Monday following a tipoff. They discovered a significant quantity of duty free cigarettes: one passenger had 19 cartons containing 200 cigarettes each, while the other carried 10 cartons of the same size. Both women were arrested on the spot.

Following their arrests, the two women were later released after paying an out-of-court settlement of €1,140 and €600 respectively. The confiscated cigarettes are set to be destroyed by customs authorities. This operation highlights ongoing efforts to prevent the illegal transport of duty free goods through Cyprus airports.
