Nine Cypriot Mountain Villages Selected for Annual Christmas Villages Scheme from November to January

Cyprus’s Deputy Ministry of Tourism has announced that nine villages, including Agros, Kakopetria, and Fikardou, will host the annual Christmas Villages scheme from 21 November 2026 to 6 January 2027. This marks the fifth year of the initiative aimed at boosting rural tourism during the festive season. The selected villages span all six districts of the island and were chosen through a grant scheme evaluating applications from communities along the Heartland of Legends tourist route.

Each village will be decorated for Christmas and feature wooden chalets offering local produce and handicrafts. Visitors can participate in workshops on crafts and food and wine, enjoy nature-based activities like hiking and cycling, and take guided village tours. The Deputy Ministry hopes the event’s unique local character will grow annually, attracting both local and international tourists.

Further information about the programme and specific activities in each village will be available on the dedicated website closer to the event.
