Strovolos officials discuss road upgrades, refugee housing repairs, and waste management improvements

A Disy delegation visited the Strovolos town hall on Tuesday to address key issues including road network upgrades, speeding up repairs at refugee housing estates, and improving waste management planning. Strovolos Mayor Stavros Stavrinides emphasized the need for greater administrative autonomy, increased state funding, and highlighted specific infrastructure projects such as upgrading Ifigenias Avenue and linking Constantinoupoleos and Demetris Christofias avenues.

Deputy Mayor Stella Sourmeli detailed delays in implementing the €130 million ‘KtiZo’ programme aimed at improving living conditions in refugee estates, urging parliamentary action. Disy deputy chairman Efthymios Diplaros pledged comprehensive solutions and party support to tackle community concerns.

Residents also raised issues including traffic congestion, illegal parking, insufficient cleanliness, and a shortage of green spaces. The municipality reminded residents to report recycling collection problems directly to Green Dot via a dedicated hotline to ensure quicker resolution, while it remains responsible for matters within its remit and continues collaboration with relevant authorities.
