A new professional women’s football club, Peyia-Akamas Ladies FC, has been officially launched and will compete in the Cyprus Women’s First Division starting October 3, 2026. The club, based at Peyia Municipal Stadium in the Municipality of Akamas, aims to become a modern, competitive, and sustainable organisation focused on the development of female footballers from the local area and wider Paphos district.
Led by Charis Arkadiou, an experienced football director, and James Thomas, a seasoned coach with international experience, the club emphasizes long-term growth through player development and community engagement. The team’s first official match will be against APOEL Ladies FC at Peyia Municipal Stadium.
Peyia-Akamas Ladies FC also benefits from the support of the Municipality of Akamas, which is providing sports facilities free of charge, reinforcing the club’s vision of creating a hub for women’s football in the region and inspiring young female athletes. The club’s ambition is to establish itself as a centre for nurturing talent and representing the region at the highest level of Cypriot women’s football.
