Severe Storm Causes Flooding in Larnaca and Aradippou Prompting Emergency Response
A powerful storm hit Larnaca and Aradippou on Friday shortly after 1pm, turning roads into rivers and causing significant flooding. The Fire Service responded to multiple calls, including pumping water from flooded basements and rescuing vehicles stranded on flooded roads, particularly in the Aradippou area.
The worst affected locations were Michalakis Paridi and Dionysiou Solomou streets in Aradippou, where a house and various roads experienced flooding. Municipal crews alongside the Larnaca District Local Government Organisation worked quickly to clear blocked drains and mitigate the impact of the storm.
Flooding also occurred in central Larnaca, including the Agii Anargyri area near the Larnaca Technical School and along Alexandrou Panagouli Avenue in Livadia. The severe weather has been ongoing since Thursday evening, with a yellow weather warning issued and remaining in effect until 5pm Friday.
