Cyprus Participates in Multinational Medusa Military Exercise Off Crete
Cyprus took part in the multinational Medusa military exercise, which concluded after nine days of operations off the coast of Crete. The drill involved forces from Greece, Egypt, France, Italy, and Cyprus, with the latter contributing the patrol vessel Commodore Andreas Ioannides, an AW-139 helicopter, and a special operations team.
The exercise focused on a variety of scenarios including reconnaissance, combined amphibious landings, and simulated air strikes with attack helicopters and fighter jets. A key element of this year’s drill was countering drone swarm attacks using the Greek-made 'Centaur' anti-drone system.
National Guard Chief Lieutenant General Emmanuel Theodorou and other senior military officials from Greece and Egypt oversaw the final phase. The exercise highlights the growing strategic partnership among Greece, Egypt, and Cyprus in the Levant region, reinforcing their commitment to regional security and cooperation.
