Fire in Kapsali, Paphos burns nine acres of dry vegetation
A fire erupted on Thursday afternoon in Kapsali, the area between Miliou and Yiolou in Paphos, burning approximately nine acres of dry grass, wild vegetation, and trees. Authorities reported that the fire department received the emergency call at 3:45pm and promptly dispatched six fire engines to the scene.
The blaze was successfully brought under control by 6:10pm through a coordinated effort involving ground crews and four firefighting aircraft. Additional support was provided by the forestry department, game and fauna service, ATLAS-DIAS volunteers, and a private contractor. Fire engines remained on site overnight to keep watch and prevent any flare-ups.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire as efforts continue to ensure the area remains secure.
