Limassol's The Edit Gallery is hosting 'Carriers,' a solo exhibition by artist Hannah Rowan, opening on September 18 and running until October 17. The exhibit features a new series of ceramic sculptures created during Rowan's research and production period in Limassol, focusing on themes of carrying, protecting, and nourishing through the female body.
Rowan's works reflect the experience of pregnancy, breastfeeding, and motherhood, with sculptures resembling vessels, breastplates, and shells. These pieces merge anatomical elements with botanical and marine forms, highlighting connections between bodies and their environments. The fragile ceramic sculptures evoke both protection and vulnerability, with glazes reminiscent of oyster shells that chronicle their surroundings.
'Carriers' explores the relationships between care, interdependence, and material transformation, emphasizing how bodies sustain life and the environment. The exhibition is open Wednesday to Friday from 3pm to 7pm and Saturdays from 10am to 1pm, with the opening night on September 18 from 6:30pm to 9:30pm.
