Anastasia Anthousi Withdraws Vote Recount Request in Nicosia District
Former Disy parliamentary candidate Anastasia Anthousi has withdrawn her application for a recount of votes in the Nicosia district from the May 24 elections. Anthousi's challenge centered on the counting of votes in Nikitari, where she claimed four Edek ballots were mistakenly counted as Elam votes before the error was corrected.
Anthousi argued that this miscount affected the allocation of parliamentary seats across four districts, ultimately preventing her from securing a seat in Nicosia. She had received 7,606 votes and would have claimed Disy's sixth seat if the final allocation remained unchanged. The electoral court approved her withdrawal on Wednesday, ending the legal challenge.
